8 Things You Need to Know about Author Dawn Klinge and her Book: Look to Jesus

Look toJesus

I am honored to share this great book with all my friends in blogland. Recently I read Dawn Klinge’s new book: Look to Jesus and I was impressed with her writing as well as how good of a book it was. This book is filled with wonderful scriptures, great story telling and interwoven explanations of why we need to TRUST  in Jesus alone! The Lord brought two great books earlier this year that helped me delve deeper as I trust in God more and more every day.

After I read Dawn’s new book, I knew I needed to interview her for my blog, so other people can read her amazing book! You will be encouraged by reading her book Look to Jesus will help you in better understanding of why we need to let go of worry and trust God daily.

Below is my Question & Answer Interview with author Dawn Kling. Thank you, Dawn, for letting me interview you and learn more about who you are behind your great book.

1. What made you decide on the title for your book?

The title of my book was originally Above the Waves, which is also the name of my blog. It’s a line from a song by Hillsong called Oceans (Where Feet May Fail). Much of the structure and the inspiration for the book came from that song. The copyright rules for blog names and book names are different, however. I decided that before I began trying to get the permission I needed to use that name, I would take a survey on my blog and see what other people thought. Look to Jesus: How to Let Go of Worry and Trust God was the favorite option that was presented…so that’s what I went with. Both titles have to do with taking our eyes off the circumstances around us and putting them on Jesus instead, which is the theme of the book.

2. Have you ever dreamed of writing a book?

I don’t remember a time where I didn’t have the dream to write a book. I didn’t always admit it, even to myself, but the dream was always there. There were a lot of years that fear held me back from pursuing it. It seems kind of funny now, that my first book is all about trusting Jesus and letting go of fear. The message of the book is just as much for me as it is for anyone else.

3. What is your favorite morning drink?

Coffee! I’m a Seattle girl, through and through.

4. If you could travel anywhere where would it be?

I want to go to Cuba. It’s been said that it’s the most beautiful island in the Caribbean. The fact that it has been largely closed off to the rest of the world for the past 50+ years also has me intrigued.

5. Did you listen to any music while writing your book?

I always listen to music when I’m writing. I had a playlist called “Trust” that I listened to while I was writing the book. Of course, Oceans was on that list, but also a lot of Lauren Daigle music. When I really need to focus, though, I have to turn on classical music. Words distract me.

6. What is one thing you would love your readers to know about the book writing process?

It’s like eating an elephant. The only way to do it is one bite at a time.

7. Are you working on writing another book?

I’m doing the research for another book right now. The theme will be redemption. It will be historical fiction, set in Seattle during the 1930’s-50’s. All I can say is that I’m really excited about it!

8. What is the one takeaway you pray your readers will get from your book “Look to Jesus”?

I want to encourage people to focus on who Jesus is. As we draw closer to Jesus we learn more about why he is worthy of our trust and why we can let go of our worries. God is in control.
