DIY Jesus Christmas Tree with Names of Jesus Ornaments

DIY Jesus Christmas Tree

This Christmas I wanted to give my children something tangible for them to do daily to keep their focus on Jesus this Christmas. The idea came to me as I was doing our Thanksgiving Tree and how much fun we all had being thankful. After November, I wanted to create a Jesus Christmas Tree and incorporate the attributes of God. Around the same time a blogger friend, Kaylene Yoder, designed a FREE Christmas Advent Names of JESUS Printable. After seeing this amazing printable, I realized this would be perfect for what I wanted to do with my children to celebrate Jesus this Christmas!

DIY Jesus Christmas Tree

Materials Needed:

  • 1 roll of green Christmas paper ($1.00 at Dollar Tree)
  • Small piece of brown paper for stump of tree
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Scrapbook paper or printer paper
  • Crayons or markers

How to Create Jesus Christmas Tree:

  1. Draw and cut out large triangle on green Christmas paper
  2. Cut out circles for ornaments
  3. We added additional shaped ornaments and a Christmas star

During the week, we write various names of Jesus or God on the Jesus Christmas Tree. Here is the link again where you can get the Advent Names of Jesus Printable. I found this to be a very simple and yet tangible way to put Christ in CHRISTmas for my kiddos, and I even enjoy it!

*UPDATE* After sharing this post and our Jesus Christmas tree I found this post from my friend ArabahShe has a FREE Printable with the Names of Jesus on them as well. You can go here to get your download.

We recently added a Christmas Star for the Top, and paper Christmas gifts under the Jesus Christmas Tree with what we desire to gift to Jesus this Christmas.

Have a blessed Christmas cherishing Jesus with your family this season.

We did something similar when I was a teen, except we used a felt tree with felt ornaments. Each ornament represented a name and was in the shape of something related to that name. A staff for the Good Shepherd. A manger for Savior. Thank you for sharing this idea!
