“So Jesus told them this story: ‘If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?’ “
– Luke 15:3-4
If you read last weeks devotional about the Good Shepherd (you can read it here if you missed it), this is a continuation about us being the sheep and our Lord being the Good Shepherd.
God is in the business of saving and rescuing!
He cares about all of us – His sheep. And He will do whatever it takes to find His sheep. No matter if they have wandered away, strayed away or if they find themselves lost in this broken world.
Do you know someone who has strayed or lost their way?
Are you with the 99 or are you the one?
Dear friend, if you are the one lost, then know Jesus has left the 99 to find you.
It is not a coincidence you are reading this very devotional.
The Good Shepherd loves you so deeply.
He is searching for you, He wants you to come back to Him! Don’t let the guilt of your poor choices or your personal sin, or even the sin of someone else that has been put upon you, keep you from your loving Shepherd.
In the parable of the Good Shepherd, He leaves his precious 99 sheep to find His ONE lost sheep.
Do you know what He does when He finally finds the one?
Does the Shepherd shame and scold the lost sheep? No, it’s quite the opposite. When he finds the lost sheep, he joyfully carried it home on his shoulders. When he arrives home, the Good Shepherd calls His friends and neighbors saying rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep! (see Luke 15:5-6).
Come back dear friend, the Lord wants to rejoice over you and your reunited relationship with Him.
Return back to your Good Shepherd!
Don’t walk but run to Him!
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
God is in the rescue and restoration business, that is why Jesus died for you.
He came back to find you- the one. Jesus completed the parable by saying this,
“In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!” (Luke 15:7).
Come back friend, let him rejoice over you. I am rejoicing right now with you!
The Lord loves you dear friend with unfailing love.
Now you can say, “I was once lost, but now I am found!”
If you have a loved one that has strayed or fallen away pray for them in this very moment! Pray that the Lord will draw this person back to Himself. Pray that God will put amazing, loving Christians in their path to witness to them and love them the way only Jesus can! Praying with you and for you!
